Players Tour Rules

Rules of Players Tour

All PT participants must know the basic rules and etiquette of golf. A list of basic rules of golf is below. We will play by USGA rules of golf guidelines. Except if a local rule or Players Tour rule helps with pace of play. Below are PT rules:

1.     All 1st, 2nd and 3rd participants will play every stroke until you hole out.

2.     4th Flight participants who do not reach the green by 8 strokes will pick up their ball and post a 10 with a circle. If you are on the green on 8 and 2 putt it is a legitimate 10. Keep track of the number of legitimate 10 verses circle 10. It will determine where the players place in their flight for each tournament.

3.     Have FUN!!

Basic Rules of Golf:

1.     PACE OF PLAY – Is the most important rule to remember. The golf course wants all players to keep up with the group in front of them at all time. Let’s help them out by following the following tips. Play ready golf. Don’t worry about honors on the tee box.

2.     The rule of thumb - it should take no more than 15 minutes to complete a hole. You should be able to see the group ahead of you most of the time. For example, on a par 3 you should be arriving at the tee box and the group ahead of you is leaving the green. On par 4’s and 5’s. Your group should be on the tee box ready to hit when the group ahead of you approach the green.

3.     Rules when riding in a cart to help keep the pace of play – To help pace of play be ready to hit your shot. If your partner is not far from you go to your ball ready to make your shot when your turn comes. This should help keep up with the group ahead of you.

4.     Water hazard (yellow stake) – Do not take a provisional ball. If your ball goes in the water and you and your playing partners saw the ball go in the water you have three choices

a.     With a one stroke penalty drop you ball where the flight of your ball entered the water and that it lines to the pin.

b.    With a one stroke penalty drop your ball where the ball entered the water. From the hazard line you may take two club length and drop you ball within the two club length.

c.     With a one stroke penalty you may hit from where you last hit the ball taking stroke and distance.

5.     Lateral Hazards (red stake) - Do not take a provisional ball. If your ball goes in the water and you and your playing partners saw the ball go in the water you have three choices

If you ball is found and not out of bounds you may proceed without penalty, but if you ball is out of bounds it is deemed a lost ball and you must proceed with your provisional ball. That is a one stroke penalty. You only have 5 minutes to search for your ball. If you can’t locate it proceed to your provisional ball with a one stroke penalty.
